Izzy Oboza
Isabelle Oboza, or Izzy as she prefers, began her dance journey in 2016 during her undergraduate career at Arizona State University. ASU is one of two major universities in the U.S. that offer a Latin dancing track within their dance curriculum. While Izzy initially started with ballroom dancing, she quickly fell in love with salsa, mambo, and social dancing as a whole! Under the instruction of David Olarte, the initial instructor and cultivator of the Latin dance program at ASU, she assisted as a teacher’s aid for the fundamental salsa classes for several years before graduating. During her time at ASU, she also performed with the ASU Salsa Devils at Latin Dance festivals and coordinated ASU’s free Latin dance festival: Latin Sol. She has also co-taught several classes and workshops in both Phoenix and the Chicago Area. She is ecstatic to share her love of salsa and bachata with the Clarendon Hills and western suburbs communities.
Outside of dance, Izzy is currently pursuing her Master’s in Occupational Therapy. Her other goals include embracing her Filipina heritage and continuing to learn Spanish. Her hobbies include karaoke, creative writing, playing video games, and being a major foodie. While she currently works part-time as a physical therapy technician, her favorite job was by far her time as a party princess!
